School Profile / Mission: Portsmouth Abbey School, founded in 1926 by Fr. Hugh Diman, is a co-educational college-preparatory boarding school for students in grades 9-12. In keeping with Benedictine principles, the School+s mission is to provide, a genuine appreciation of scholarship, thoroughness in work, and a belief in a broad and liberal education. Situated on the shores of beautiful Narragansett Bay, the Abbey+s 500-acre campus boasts excellent academic and athletic facilities, including a new Fine Arts Center, 25,000-volume library, a beachfront marine science laboratory, and an 18-hole championship golf course. The average class size is 10-12 students, with a student/faculty ratio of 6:1.
